LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court(LHC) to remove Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani from office.
To remove Sadiq Sanjrani from the post of Senate Chairman, citizen Mashkoor Hussain filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, in which the Election Commission of Pakistan, including Sadiq Sanjrani, and others have been made parties.
It has been stated in the petition that Sadiq Sanjrani contested the election on the seat of the provincial assembly of Balochistan and he won the election, the election commission also issued the notification of success.
It has been argued in the petition that Sadiq Sanjrani cannot hold two seats at the same time, he is illegally acting as Senate Chairman.
In the petition, it has been requested that the Election Commission of Pakistan should order Sadiq Sanjrani's seat as a senator to be declared vacant and the Lahore High Court should also stop him from working as Senate Chairman.

Earlier, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has called the joint session of the parliament on Saturday at ten in the morning.
The Speaker called the joint session in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of Rule 9 of the Presidential Election Rules, 1988.
