Katy Perry new single music “Watch It Burn” has performed poorly on streaming charts, marking another setback for the pop star.
Pop-rock track was promoted as a return to her earlier musical style and was expected to support a comeback. However, since its release on Friday, the song has failed to enter the top 200 on Spotify global and U.S. charts.
The song’s highest ranking so far is No.127 in Brazil. The release has underperformed despite a strong promotional campaign. Perry supported the single with a high budget music video and live performances at major events, including O Son do Camino in Spain on June 18 and Rock in Rio Lisboa on June 20, where she performed the song for the first time.
The new track is also performing worse than her earlier single Bandaids, which briefly reached No.101 on Spotify global chart before falling off. In a recent podcast appearance, Perry said the song reflects her personal struggles and emotions after a difficult year. She said she had often suppressed anger in the past but was now allowing herself to express it.
The weak performance highlights ongoing challenges for Perry as she tries to regain her earlier commercial success in the music industry. Moreover during the FIFA 2026 lineup she faced severe online criticism from the audience because some users questioned her participation, referencing past allegations made against the singer and urging organizers to reconsider the selection of headline performers.
