ISLAMABAD: A new round of technical talks between the United States and Iran is expected to take place in Islamabad on July 14 and 15, according to government officials.
The reports said experts from both countries will take part in the third round of discussions aimed at supporting long term peace efforts in the Middle East. Pakistan is expected to act as a mediator during the talks, they added.
Previous technical meetings between US and Iranian officials were held in Switzerland and Qatar. Those discussions focused on key issues including sanctions on Iran, frozen Iranian assets, maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran’s nuclear program.

According to reports, the upcoming talks will continue to address unresolved matters, including the release of frozen Iranian funds and broader economic concerns linked to sanctions. The level of representation from the Iranian side is expected to be confirmed after internal developments in Tehran.
Earlier discussions in Doha were described as having made “positive progress” by mediators Qatar and Pakistan. Both sides reportedly agreed to establish communication channels to monitor and report violations related to earlier understandings.
The negotiations are part of a broader diplomatic effort involving Pakistan and Qatar to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran. A previous agreement included steps toward a temporary ceasefire and discussions on reopening key shipping routes in the region.
Officials say talks remain ongoing, with mediators continuing efforts to support stability and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
