Web Desk: Karachi is preparing for a fresh wave of heavy monsoon rains starting July 28, while light rain and cloudy skies are expected to continue in the coming days.
The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for Karachi, indicating that the city's skies will remain partly cloudy today.Light rain or drizzle is anticipated during the evening or night over the next two days.
Today, the minimum temperature was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 71%. The maximum temperature is expected to reach up to 35 degrees Celsius, with winds blowing at 15 kilometers per hour.
A significant change is projected from July 28, when a new series of monsoon winds is expected to bring heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning to the city.
In Rawalpindi and Islamabad, intermittent rain continues.
On the other hand, In Kalat and its surrounding areas experienced torrential downpours accompanied by stormy winds yesterday, leading to flash floods in local rivers and streams.
The intense rainfall caused significant disruption in Kalat, with floodwaters entering the emergency ward of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), numerous shops in shopping centers, and private residences.
Streets and alleys across the city were transformed into temporary ponds and lakes due to the continuous heavy rain, making movement difficult for residents and causing widespread inconvenience. The sudden influx of water has created a challenging situation for the local community and authorities.
Meanwhile, in Gilgit-Baltistan, heavy rainfall has triggered devastating flash floods in the Thak Babusar region of Diamer district, claiming the lives of at least three tourists and leaving four others injured. Authorities are also searching for 15 individuals reported missing after the deluge.
The torrential downpour caused a massive surge of water that swept away eight tourist vehicles and resulted in widespread destruction. The floods have also severely damaged the local road network, paralyzing movement and hindering rescue operations in the affected areas of the Diamer district.
