ISLAMABAD: Federal Government has decided to maintain Special Parliamentary Committee to table another constitutional amendment, colloquially known as the 27th amendment, aimed at reforming local governments and addressing issues skipped in previous legislation.
The ruling coalition led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to maintain a Special Parliamentary Committee on the issue of the proposed 27th amendment.
Sources said the final decision regarding the proposed constitutional amendment will be taken by the parliamentary committee.
All parliamentary parties are represented in the committee chaired by Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah. A consultation between the PML-N and Pakistan People's Party is expected today to bring the proposed amendment.
Government sources said that the leaders of the two parties will meet today on the sidelines of the National Assembly session.
However, no time frame has been given yet for bringing the 27th amendment, the amendment will be brought by consensus of all parties.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) has officially decided to become a part of Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) for appointment of judges in the superior courts.
In a special meeting of PTI’s political committee, it has been agreed to nominate members from parliament for the commission.
It was said in the meeting that the decision of the political committee will be sent to the core committee for approval and to the PTI founder Imran Khan for final approval.
