KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for by-elections on 52 vacant local government seats across Sindh.
The LG elections will be conducted in Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur, Naushahro Feroze, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Matiari, as well as Karachi West, Keamari, and Karachi East. The elections will be held on September 24, 2025.
According to the Spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh, the nomination papers can be submitted from August 21 to 23, and the preliminary list of candidates will be released on August 25.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from August 26 to 28, while candidates will be allowed to withdraw their papers until September 8. Election symbols will be allotted on September 9, 2025, the spokesperson added.
Spokesman Election Commissioner Sindh said that polling will be held on September 24 for 52 seats in 19 different districts of Sindh. The three districts of Karachi Division will have by -elections in five local seats.
According to the spokesperson, Vice Chairman of TMC Sohrab Goth in District East, Vice -Chairman of the District West TMC Manghopir UC 10 Vice Chairman, TMC Orangi's UC No. 1 and 7 Principal and Journal Member and District Keamari Town Municipal Corporation will be elected at the Municipal Corporation.
The spokesman said that the Election Commission has appointed DROs and ROs for the by -elections, the district will perform the duties of DROs, the deputy commissioner of the East, West and Keamari.
The spokesperson for the Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh has announced that, in accordance with the Election Code of Conduct, a ban has been imposed on the announcement of development schemes and the use of public resources by federal and provincial authorities in constituencies where local government by-elections are scheduled.
The spokesperson further stated that all transfers and postings of government officials within these constituencies are also strictly prohibited until the completion of the by-election process.
