ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has given the lantern symbol to the Awami National Party (ANP).
The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced a reserved decision regarding the Awami National Party (ANP) intra-party election in which the commission has allotted its old election symbol, the lantern, to the ANP.
The Awami National Party had asked for a six-month respite for the intra-party elections, on which the ECP said that the 5-year term of the ANP has not yet been completed, the election campaign is going on in the country and the political parties are in it. Therefore, the ANP should hold intra-party elections by May 10.
The ECP also imposed a fine of 20,000 on the Awami National Party.
It should be noted that the issue of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's bat symbol is also under hearing in the Supreme Court.

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has delisted 13 political parties for not conducting intra-party elections.
The ECP accepted the intra-party elections of two political parties and rejected the intra-party elections of 13 political parties.
