Tom Holland has shared that he initially thought director Christopher Nolan was unhappy with his performance while filming "The Odyssey", before learning the repeated interruptions were due to technical limits of IMAX cameras.
In a recent interview with Fandango, Holland said he felt nervous on his first day on set while filming scenes with Jon Bernthal. He noted that Nolan kept calling “cut” during takes, which led him to believe something was wrong with his acting.
The confusion came from a simple technical issue. IMAX film cameras can only record about three minutes of footage at a time before needing to be reloaded. Neither Holland nor Bernthal was aware of this at the time.
The misunderstanding was later cleared up by stunt coordinator George Cottle, who explained the filming process. Holland said the explanation immediately eased his concerns and relieved his early anxiety on set.
Despite the initial tension, Holland praised the experience of working with Nolan, he described the production as the best film set experience of his career and commended Nolan and producer Emma Thomas for their approach to filmmaking.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, with Holland playing Telemachus, the son of the legendary Greek hero.
The cast also includes Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, Mia Goth and John Leguizamo.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 17 and is already among the most anticipated movies of the year.
