Shah Rukh Khan to receive INR 9 crore refund for his home Mannat

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, are set to receive a refund of approximately Rs 9 crore from the Maharashtra government, following a petition filed regarding their iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat.

According to reports, the celebrity couple had overpaid the Collector of the Mumbai Suburban District (MSD) while converting their 2,446-square-meter property from leasehold to freehold status. Initially leased by the state government to its previous owner, the property was later transferred to the Khans, who opted for freehold ownership under a state government policy.

In March 2019, Shah Rukh Khan paid 25 percent of the ready reckoner price, totaling Rs 27.50 crore. However, a valuation error led to the overpayment, as authorities mistakenly calculated the amount based on the bungalow's worth rather than the land value.

Upon realizing the discrepancy, Gauri Khan formally approached the Collector, requesting a refund of Rs 9 crore. Reports indicate that the petition was reviewed, and the authorities have acknowledged the error, approving the reimbursement.

Mannat, a symbol of Shah Rukh Khan’s success, remains one of the most iconic celebrity homes in India, frequently drawing attention from fans and media alike.
