Shana Muldoon Zappa shared the late actor’s final video on Instagram on April 22, which had originally been sent to the family group chat just hours before his passing. The emotional post offered a rare and intimate look into his last hours.
In the clip Muldoon was seen attending the opening of the David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles Museum of Modern Art where he appeared peaceful and deeply engaged with the surroundings. While recording, he softly remarked, “What do I see? This beautiful painting,” before turning the camera toward the artwork.
The painting, titled Saint Ignatius of Loyola’s Vision of Christ and God the Father at La Storta, seemed to hold symbolic meaning in his final moments. Muldoon pointed to its historical detail, adding, “1622, Ignatius of Loyola,” as he documented the piece.

Following the video, his sister shared a deeply emotional tribute, saying she later looked into the meaning behind the artwork. She included a description explaining it as representing “a real spiritual experience” between Ignatius and divine presence, adding a profound layer of reflection to his final message.
In her heartfelt caption, Zappa described her brother as her best friend, a loving sibling, and a devoted uncle. She expressed the unbearable pain of loss while also finding comfort in his memory and presence.
She further wrote that the family would announce details of a memorial at a later time, as they are still processing the grief. In a deeply emotional note, she added that she continues to speak of him in the present tense, believing his spirit remains close saying, “he just changed forms.”
