Mishi took to Instagram to express her outrage at Fawad for taking on a role with a lesser-known Indian actress while declining to collaborate with well-known Pakistani actresses.

Fawad last starred in an Indian movie in 2016's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He rose to fame in Bollywood with his 2014 breakthrough performance in Khoobsurat. Pakistani artists have since been prohibited from performing in Bollywood due to the growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
In October, shooting of the eagerly awaited film Abir Gulal started in London and the surrounding areas. Production is scheduled to last through November. The movie will be released either in early 2026 or late 2025.
The film explores "the journey of two individuals who unintentionally help each other heal, with love blossoming as an unexpected consequence," according to director Aarti S. Bagdi. Producers expressed excitement, stating, “Fawad has a massive global fan base, and we anticipate that audiences will wholeheartedly embrace this film.”
Malaika Arora and Ridhi Dogra are two other cast members that have been rumored to be joining the production next month.
