Islamabad: In the talks between the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Iran, it has been agreed to ensure respect for the security and sovereignty of both countries.
In a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart in Islamabad, caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that Iran is Pakistan’s friend and neighbor and has long-standing cultural, religious, and fraternal ties. Additionally, a detailed discussion has been held with the Iranian delegation in which various issues of mutual interest were discussed. The caretaker foreign minister said that the strong relations between Iran and Pakistan are important for the development of both countries.
He added that Pakistan wants to expand relations with Iran and in various fields, while the problem of terrorism is a common challenge for both countries. Therefore, there is a need for joint actions against terrorism, and a strong plan of action against terrorists is necessary.
Jalil Abbas Jilani said that the high-level agenda is in the interest of Pakistan and Iran. We have invited the President of Iran to visit Pakistan immediately after the elections. Pakistan and Iran have agreed to establish a high-level consultative mechanism between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
On this occasion, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said that there are important fraternal relations with Pakistan; geographical relations with Pakistan are also important; and we consider the people of Iran and Pakistan as one nation.
He further said that Pakistan's security is a priority for us. Terrorists have caused a lot of damage to Iran, and Iran and Pakistan will not give any chance to terrorists. Terrorists on the common border are a threat to the security of both countries.
Amir Abdullahian said that we see the security of Pakistan as the security of Iran and the region.
Many people have been martyred in Pakistan and Iran by terrorism. Undoubtedly, terrorists present on the common border carry out operations in Pakistan and Iran. These terrorists carry out terrorism in Pakistan and Iran on behalf of a third country.
