According to an official notification, the price of LPG has been set at Rs254.30 per kilogram, while the cost of an 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder will now be Rs3,000.79, reflecting a rise of Rs1.32. The revised rates will take effect starting December 1, 2024.
Despite the official announcement, LPG is reportedly being sold for Rs300 to Rs330 per kilogram in retail markets in Lahore, with little to no action being taken by authorities to address the overpricing issue.
The federal government is also expected to revise petrol and diesel prices in its upcoming fortnightly review for December 2024.
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs248.38 per litre, and high-speed diesel stands at Rs255.14 per litre. Reports suggest that the government may increase petrol prices by Rs3.15, raising it to Rs251.53 per litre, while diesel prices could see a Rs3.20 hike, bringing the rate to Rs257.34 per litre.
The final decision will be made by the federal government after considering factors such as stock availability, revenue requirements, and international market trends. The revised petrol prices will be announced later tonight and will be effective from December 1 to December 15, 2024.
