Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has successfully recovered over Rs 8.041 million from 285 dead defaulters across five districts—Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, and Okara-within the last 24 hours as part of its ongoing recovery campaign.
According to a LESCO spokesperson, the company collected Rs 40,000 from 40 defaulters in the Northern Circle, Rs 2.085 million from 32 defaulters in the Eastern Circle, Rs 1.005 million from 42 defaulters in the Central Circle, Rs 1.051 million from 23 defaulters in the Southern Circle, Rs 35,000 from 19 defaulters in Nankana Circle, Rs 1.018 million from 53 defaulters in Sheikhupura Circle, Rs 43,000 from 45 defaulters in Okara Circle, and Rs 62,000 from 38 defaulters in Kasur Circle.
Additionally, during the last 24 hours of LESCO's anti-power theft campaign, the company identified 561 cases of electricity theft across its service areas.
In response, LESCO has submitted FIR applications against the thieves, with 198 FIRs already registered in various police stations, and 34 suspects arrested.
These operations, initiated under the guidance of the Federal Power Division, are being personally supervised by LESCO CEO Engineer Shahid Haider. The CEO emphasized that the campaign will continue until electricity theft is completely eradicated.
The campaign targets both electricity thieves and LESCO employees involved in facilitating illegal activities. Among the disconnected connections, 1 was industrial, 12 were commercial, 3 were agricultural, and 545 were domestic. The total detection bill amounted to Rs 17.060 million, covering 418,941 units of stolen electricity.
Since the start of the anti-theft drive, LESCO has detected pilferage at 138,901 connections and filed 131,471 FIRs, resulting in the arrest of 42,440 individuals. In total, LESCO has charged over 151.5 million detection units, valued at Rs 5.43 billion, to those caught stealing electricity.
