Chicken meat and egg prices soar in Karachi

The prices of chicken meat and eggs have seen a sharp increase in Karachi, worrying many residents about the growing cost of basic food items, especially with winter approaching.

In recent weeks, the cost of chicken meat has risen significantly, with the price per kilogram now reaching Rs 660, up from Rs 564. This marks an increase of Rs 96 per kg.

Likewise, egg prices have also jumped, with a dozen now costing Rs 380, compared to Rs 292 previously. Country eggs have seen an even higher rise, selling for Rs 650 per dozen.

The sudden price hikes are a major concern for many, particularly those from lower-income households. With the colder weather just around the corner, families are already preparing for higher heating and utility costs, making the rise in food prices an added financial burden.

Citizens have expressed their frustration over the price increases, questioning the reasons behind the sudden surge and whether it is justified. Many have called on local authorities to take action, urging the government to regulate the poultry market to prevent further inflationary pressures.

In response to these concerns, there are growing calls for stricter monitoring of the poultry market and for the introduction of measures that can offer relief to consumers. As the winter season approaches, the rise in food prices has become a pressing issue that requires immediate attention from the relevant authorities.
