In the previous month, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) instructed the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) to consistently work together with provincial governments. Their goal is to implement measures that ensure stable prices and to prevent hoarding and profiteering.

The cabinet committee meeting was led by the Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, as mentioned in a statement from the finance ministry. The choice was made after a presentation by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on the current inflation scenario and the recent patterns in the prices of essential goods.
