KYIV: Mykhailo Podolyak, a Ukrainian presidential adviser and peace talks negotiator, stated on Saturday that no agreement with Russia can be trusted, and that Moscow can only be stopped from invading Ukraine by force.

Mr Podolyak remarked on the Telegram messaging platform, “Any agreement with Russia isn’t worth a broken penny.” “Is it possible to negotiate with a country that always lies cynically and propagandistically?”

After peace talks stagnated, with the last confirmed face-to-face conversations on March 29, Russia and Ukraine have blamed one another.

According to the Kremlin, Ukraine has shown no readiness to continue peace negotiations, while Kyiv authorities blame Russia for the lack of progress.

Ukrainian President Zelenskiy stated on Monday that only Russian President Putin was prepared to meet with him to discuss how to stop the war.

President Vladimir Putin claims that Russian soldiers are conducting a special operation in Ukraine to demilitarise the country and cleanse it of anti-Russian radicals.

Ukraine and its allies accuse Russia of using this as a pretext to invade Ukraine on February 24.
