KYIV: Ukraine announced on Friday that it had hit Russian military targets in the southern Kherson region, where Kyiv’s army is struggling to recapture territory taken by Moscow’s troops early in their invasion.
According to the defence ministry in a statement, “Our aircraft carried out a series of strikes on enemy bases, places of accumulation of equipment and personnel, and field depots around five different settlements in the Kherson region.”

Ukraine has initiated an attack to reclaim land in the region, and the presidency stated the military situation there remained “tense” in a Friday morning briefing.
“A series of loud explosions were heard throughout the day, fighting continues on the borders of the region,” it added.

They had already declared that the ruble, the Russian currency, would be introduced to the region.
