The App Store is a “disservice” to developers: Epic CEO

Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games, spoke with The Financial Times.

He slammed the Apple App Store throughout the interview, calling it a “disservice” to developers.

He went on to say that while the app store is not a service, it is a significant disadvantage for developers.

Judge Yvonne also found in 2021 that Apple’s standards do not violate antitrust laws.

Sweeney has expressed his disappointment with the decision.

Sweeney had to accept the App Store restrictions during the ongoing litigation between Apple and Epic, but he was never thrilled with the platform’s frauds.

The tale began when Apple released a study showing that the OS app economy currently supports more than 2.2 million jobs in the US.

The app store, according to Sweeney, forces developers to approach their applications in a way that attracts more customers.

In addition to it, he was dissatisfied with the rates because the App Store charged developers uncompetitive processing fees.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the Apple App Store, Sweeney complimented Facebook’s parent company, Meta, and revealed his plans to build a metaverse with Fortnite.

This is not new that a company has complained about Apple’s app store’s pricing and unfair policies.

Many businesses had already expressed their concern with these issues.

However, ironically, nothing was done about it, demonstrating that Apple is unconcerned about what people think of it and will stick to its rules.
